2013 Major-League Baseball Analysis. The underline in the heading box says it all: baseball team and player performance examined realistically and accurately. If you want to know in definite, meaningful numbers why each team is where it is in the standings, and how various players do or don't help their team, this is the place to find out. Here we do not dispense opinions, or natter about "chemistry" and "momentum": we leave that to the writers and sportscasters (who, through some miracle, manage to get paid for such nattering). Here, we apply on a daily basis the proven techniques of modern numerical baseball analysis--sometimes called "sabermetrics" (or, less often but more correctly, "sabremetrics")--to raw stats to generate meaningful interpretive measures of performance. If you are already up to speed on what we do here and how and why, then let's jump right into all the latest daily results. If, on the other hand, you are new to baseball analysis, or know something about it but not how we do it here, there are some pages you should read before jumping into those daily results. There is, at the bottom of this and every page of this site a complete Site Directory, with pages grouped logically (we hope) and the lists color-coded to make relationships clearer. And there is also a full Site-Search Engine available. But for the newcomer here, we urgently recommend as a first step a reading of the following pages, preferably in the order shown here:
In addition to those key pages, there are some others (besides, of course, the actual daily results pages), and we hope that you will look these over as well:
Let us note that we also have associated with this site a Bookshop. It specializes in books related to baseball, but from it you can also search out copies of any book, new (through Amazon) or used (through Abebooks). We think you'll find both the baseball-books listing and the searches interesting and very easy to work with. You can keep up to date on developments of interest here via the messages on the Latest Site News and Notes page (last updated Tuesday, 17 August 2010, at 11:27 pm EDT). And finally, note that down at the bottom of this (and every) page is some further information about the site, at the heading Site Info. |
